Gas FAQ
What is Ethereum gas right now?
As of Oct 7, 2026, 17:15 UTC, the base fee is 3.21 gwei. A low-priority transaction costs about 3.22 gwei, average 4.70 gwei and high 7.10 gwei. At $2,571 per ETH, a simple transfer at the average fee costs about $0.25.
How is the gas price calculated?
Since EIP-1559 every Ethereum block has a base fee that rises when blocks are more than half full and falls when they are emptier. Users add a priority fee (tip) to be included faster. Coinucation reads the last 20 blocks via a public RPC and reports the base fee plus the 10th, 50th and 90th percentile tips as low, average and high.
How much does a simple ETH transfer cost?
A plain ETH transfer uses 21,000 gas. Cost in ETH = gas used x gas price. At the current average of 4.70 gwei that is 0.000099 ETH, about $0.25. A token swap uses roughly 150,000 gas, about $1.81.
What is a good Bitcoin fee rate?
mempool.space currently estimates 1 sat/vB for next-block confirmation, 1 sat/vB for about 30 minutes, 1 sat/vB for about an hour and 1 sat/vB for economy. A typical 140 vB transaction at the 30-minute rate costs about $0.12.
When is gas cheapest?
Gas is usually lowest during weekends and in the hours when both the US and Europe are asleep (roughly 02:00 to 08:00 UTC), and spikes during token launches, NFT mints and sharp market moves. The 24-hour chart on this page shows today's pattern.
